$23,000 Purse · Most Finishers Wins

Last year, we had an idea: what if your run club, cross country team, or neighborhood crew could compete for real prize money? Not just a finisher medal and a good story, but actual cash.

It worked. Groups from across the Yakima Valley showed up, packed the start line, and competed in the inaugural TRU-ly Rad Group Challenge. This year, thanks to Trouvé Health Care Corparation we’re making it bigger and better.

How It Works

1. Establish Your Group

No standards. No minimum speed. No complicated eligibility requirements.

Recruit everyone you know, from your fastest friend to your neighbor who just started jogging. All that matters is crossing the finish line.

Anyone, in any heat, can sign up with a group.

2. Register Your Group

Email us at hello@yakimamile.org with your group name and we will add you to the registration page.

3. Show Up and Run

Race day is June 6th.

Most finishers wins.

The top 7 groups share the purse, ranked by total number of finishers. And yes, every single finisher counts.

New in 2026: The $3,000 Drawing

Didn’t crack the top 7? Still in the running.

Any group that finishes with at least 20 finishers and doesn’t place in the top 7 gets entered into a random drawing for $3,000.

Show up in force and you’re already winning.

How Year One Went Down

The inaugural TRU-ly Rad Group Challenge had a $17,500 purse and seven groups walked away with something to show for it.

Here’s how the 2025 final standings shook out:

West Valley showed up with 249 finishers and made it look easy.

But look at 7th place: 24 finishers. That is the group that sets the bar, and it’s not as high as you think.

We expect this year to be even bigger, which is why the random drawing for $3,000 is so huge. It’s up for grabs, achievable for any group.
